The hot water service is a heat pump from Quantum Energy (http://www.quantum-energy.com.au/ see 340-T2-S). A refrigerant absorbs heat as it circulates through roof-mounted panels, and vapourises. It is then compressed, raising its pressure and temperature. The high-temperature vapour passes through the water tank, where it condenses as it releases its heat to the water. The system claims to cut hot water costs by 75%.
